......have consideration for others.................

Throwing boomerangs for fun, sport and recreation is a wonderful pass time. It's a further accomplishment becoming proficient enough to compete in the many State, Provincial and Country competitions world wide. Also, boomerang collecting has become a global interest especially when some of the strip laminated and hard to find plywood models become more rare boomerang collecting can become an investment.  However, safety first is a priority, like riding a bicycle without your hands on the handle bars and not obeying the rules of the road or not becoming familiar with how to ride a bicycle could lead to a mishap. The same holds true for boomeranging. If you misuse, disobey the rules of the road and act irresponsibly mishaps can happen.

Thousands of people have competed world wide in various competitions and of all ages for many years without a serious mishap.  Whatever injuries may have occurred such injuries have been from the running and jumping when competing. Use common sense, learn about your boomerang first, throw in wide open areas and respect the territory and space of others when enjoying your sport and hobby of boomeranging. DON'T FORGET there are right hand and left hand boomerangs. Because the boomerang wings are shaped opposite to one another for right and left-hand throwers a right hand thrower cannot throw a boomerang made for a left hand thrower and vise versa . Otherwise a mishap will occur.

Care and Maintenance

* NEVER subject your boomerang to extreme changes in temperature.
* If your boomerang has its wings tuned (steamed upwards) do not lay them flat (hang them somewhere safe) NEVER
place any weight on your boomerang when it is sitting around. Weight placed on it can warp the wood.

With proper care and maintenance your boomerang can last for many years and require little, if any, maintenance. Please remember your boomerang is not unbreakable and the finish is subject to deterioration through normal wear and excessive use and through striking hard objects (the latter you must avoid).

* NEVER throw your boomerang in wet conditions. Rain and the elements will ruin the finish as it would if you subjected your furniture to nasty weather.

* PLEASE CHECK YOUR BOOMERANGS TUNING - see above explanation. To check a boomerangs tuning place the boomerang on a flat surface with the flat side (underside) against a flat surface. Press down on the centre on the boomerang or the elbow portion (the curved part). If the particular boomerang that you purchased required tuning you will find the wings at each end will pop upwards. The distance between the flat surface and the underside of each wing tip is called positive dihedral. Both wings may have this or one may have it or one may have it more than the other. Dihedral and other tuning (if required on a specific boomerang) is done before leaving the factory to ensure quality flights for you.

.

Rules to Follow

* Be sure you read and understand the instructions that come with each boomerang, or download this page
.

* NEVER throw your boomerang close to others or property - only in wide open spaces ( do not trespass)

* NEVER throw your boomerang in windy conditions. Generally winds greater than 5miles per hour ( 9km/hr) will distort
the boomerang flight, the greater the wind the more your boomerang will fly out of control. A moderate amount of practice will teach you about wind velocities. Learn to understand what a light breeze is as opposed to undesirable windy conditions.

* NEVER throw your boomerang straight up. Other than MTA (maximum time aloft) boomerangs your boomerang is made to be thrown with an approximate one o'clock slant if your throwing right handed. Approx. Eleven o'clock slant if you throw left handed. Your boomerang is thrown parallel to the ground - see instruction booklet that comes with each boomerang ( First Time Orders Only).

* Not all boomerangs fly the same, some will fly higher and further. Be sure you know how far you can reasonably expect your boomerang to fly and behave before throwing it than you can judge the area size to throw it in.

* NEVER throw in crowds or where a number of people exist. You don't want people getting hit with your boomerang. BE SURE that people are aware that you are throwing the boomerang so they can keep an eye on it and not get hit.

* EYE PROTECTION .. WEAR EYE PROTECTION when throwing or catching boomerangs. Boomerangs are spinning objects and its always a good idea to wear eye protection

*NEVER throw your boomerang sidearm, it will only climb rapidly and come crashing down.

* NEVER throw your boomerang on hard surfaces or in damp conditions.  Water and hard surfaces and wood just don't get along.

* REMEMBER! there are right and left hand boomerangs. Be sure if you throw right hand that you don not have a left hand boomerang and if you throw left hand be sure you do not have a right hand boomerang. The difference between both are mirrors images, that is to say, the wings are contoured just the opposite. As well a left hand thrower must throw the boomerang to the left and a right hand thrower must throw the boomerang to the right.

Like anything in life, take responsibility for what you do and DON'T look for others to take responsibility for your actions if your actions are deemed inappropriate and irresponsible - Be Responsible For Your Actions.

Your sport of boomeranging is a wonderful, fun and healthy thing to do for recreation - PLEASE keep it that way!

happy boomeranging and to your good health
